Vaclav Klaus receives letter from human rights NGOs before trip to China

[Olympic Watch: Human Rights in China and Beijing 2008]
Autor: Petr Kutilek
The plea has been signed by Jan Ruml, Chairman of Olympic Watch; Tomas Pojar, Executive Director of People in Need; Marian Zajicek, Chairman of Amnesty International Czech Republic; and Lubomir Sklenka, Chairman of Lungta. They call on Mr. Klaus to mention the need for Beijing to finalize its ratification of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Further, the organizations ask Mr. Klaus to request fair treatment of five political prisoners. Wan Wanxing, Yan Jun, Tenzin Delek Rinpoche, He Depu, and Zheng Enchong have different backgrounds, but one thing in common: they have been persecuted by the Beijing regime for peacefully exercising their inalienable rights and liberties, such as freedom of speech and freedom of religion.
