American Voices Abroad Prague will hold a press conference on November 4, exactly one year before the next presidential elections in the United States, to announce plans to promote free and fair elections next year and the “100,000 for 2004” campaign to gather voter pledges from Americans abroad to support candidates who oppose the pre-emptive war doctrine and the USA Patriot Act. The press conference will also address the AVA worldwide congress to be held in Prague in late November.

American Voices Abroad is a coalition of US citizens living overseas who have united in opposition to the administration of George W. Bush, the pre-emptive war doctrine and the dismantling of civil liberties in the United States. Formed in Berlin on July 4, 2003 by a congress of representing Americans in five international capitals and many smaller cities, AVA has grown into a worldwide coalition for international law, civil liberties and greater dialogue between the US and foreign countries.

The AVA coalition has called a second worldwide congress to be held in Prague from November 21 to 23, 2003. At this meeting, the organization will clarify and implement plans to effect the 2004 presidential elections in the US and build a foundation for a broad, long-term opposition to current US foreign and domestic policies. Several prominent public speakers will address the conference and the public in Prague on November 21st and 22nd, including former UN weapons inspector, Scott Ritter, American civil liberties writer and lawyer Jennifer van Bergen, African-American peace activist Damu Smith and Iraqi dissident Ahmad Ghlim.

We look forward to seeing you on November 4. Simple refreshments will be provided.
